NABARD
CRAFICARD, or the Committee to Review Arrangements of Institutional Credit for Agriculture and Rural Development, advocated the establishment of a development bank, which resulted in the establishment of NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) in July 1982.
It was established through a special parliamentary legislation. The organization’s primary goal was to enhance rural India by increasing the flow of credit for agricultural and rural non-agricultural development.
Important Roles of NABARD:
The functions of NABARD are detailed below-
- NABARD has specific sections that work towards the ultimate goals of empowering and financially inclusive rural India. These departments can be divided into three major categories:
- Financial
- Developmental
- Supervision
2. The preparation of district-level credit plans by NABARD is used to guide and motivate the banking industry to meet specified benchmarks.
3.NABARD also regulates Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and Cooperative Banks, as well as developing and integrating their banking practices with the Core Banking Solution (CBS) platform.
CBS: Core Banking Solution (CBS) is a branch network that allows consumers to manage their accounts and obtain banking services from any branch of the bank on the CBS network, regardless of where they keep their accounts. The customer is no longer a Branch customer. He becomes a customer of the bank.
4. NABARD’s district-level credit strategies are used to guide and motivate the banking industry to meet needed benchmarks.
5. NABARD also assists handicraft artists in selling their items by training them and providing them with a marketing platform.
